The following published charges are relevant to operating Cloudflare OS.

How far the free allowances go

Looking only at fixed costs, the scope available without additional licence or authentication charges is as follows.

• Software — Because it is Apache 2.0 open-source software, there is no licence charge to obtain, deploy or modify it.
• Authentication (Cloudflare Access / Zero Trust) — The Free plan covers up to 50 users at $0. Authentication for a pilot of 50 people or fewer can fit within that allowance.
• Execution platform (Workers) — Workers Paid, from $5 per account per month, is required. This is effectively the minimum fixed operating cost.
• AI inference — Charges depend on use. There is no charge if it is not used, but practical workloads will consume inference.

Thinking about the cost of a small pilot of up to 50 users

Combining the published prices at face value, fixed costs for a limited pilot of 50 users or fewer begin at $5 per month for Workers Paid, plus usage charges for AI inference, storage and logs. At 51 users or more, a typical configuration adds Zero Trust pay-as-you-go at $7 per user per month.

This is an explanation of how published prices combine, not a quotation. Actual totals vary with usage and architecture.

Three variables that shape total cost

1. AI inference volume

More agent use creates more model calls and higher usage charges. Because every inference request in Cloudflare OS passes through AI Gateway, the organisation can set model-level cost visibility, budget caps and rate limits. Built-in controls that help avoid an unexpected bill are useful for operating-cost management.

2. Storage and logs

Retaining workspace sessions and output files, together with accumulating audit logs, is usage-based. Organisations with strict audit requirements need to design log-retention costs carefully.

3. User count

The authentication cost model changes above 50 users, from Free to $7 per user per month. Departmental rollout plans should estimate costs alongside the expected pace of user growth.

How much will the managed edition cost?

A “Managed Cloudflare OS” edition is planned for the Cloudflare Dashboard, but no price had been announced as of August 2026. Organisations that want to avoid self-deployment and operation may choose to wait for more information. At present, the option that is definitely available is the self-deployed open-source edition.
